Thankful Thursday #17

Three of my favorite quotes on change:

“Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become.”
~ Pericles, Ancient Greek statesman

“Any change, even change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.”
~ Arnold Bennett, British novelist

“Don’t fear change; embrace it.” ~Anthony D’Angelo, author

My favorite Scripture verse about change:

Hebrews 13: 8 (NIV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Jesus doesn't change.
And for that truth--in the midst of a world that is full of change--I am thankful.
Thanks, Iris at Sting My Heart, for hosting Thankful Thursday!

  • I LOOOOOVEE that verse too. MY favorite of all time, because everything in life changes, but Jesus & His Word do not Change. They are truth, and the truth sets us free! I am so thankful for that too!

  • Great quotes and an awesome verse for a world that changes on a second-by-second basis. One of my favorite quotes on change is: "Change your opinions, keep to your principles; change your leaves, keep intact your roots." — Victor Hugo Happy Thankful Thursday!

  • Blessings Beth...Thank you for sharing these great quotes & most importantly God's Word that tells us HE is UNCHANGING!!! What can count on HIM and that He is, was and will be the same! In this we can have confidence & assurance!
I'm thankful that you have overcome much most recently and you are standing on solid ground!
Praise God! Keep fighting! Stand firm! I will choose to embrace change and not fear it! I choose to be thankful for Jesus in the midst of this fallen world of chaotic changes! I'm thankful that you chose to visit me and leave with your uplifting encouragement!

  • Gosh, this is the second time today I'm reading about change. And frankly, I resist change. But if the Lord is leading, I need to cooperate. I'm glad to discover your blog today.

  • God does not change, there's not even a 'shadow of variableness' - but He does have a plan and He changes us fulfill our part in that plan. Some changes are more painful and challenging than others but His ultimate plan is to give us a future and a hope. Thanks so much for this post.

  • great quotes! and love how you tied that verse in too. shows that we need to change, but God doesn't need to change. and yet He enables us to change.
